There are so many different versions of this. I had seen compliment
chains on-line several years ago and thought they were a great idea, but
wanted to simplify it just a bit. I wanted something that my Star of
the Day could easily add the compliments to for me. These are any compliments
our class receives from other teachers or staff throughout the day.
Anyone besides myself, because I should be giving LOTS of compliments
during the day. Anyhow, I was at my favorite store, Target, and found a
bright red flower pot and also spotted some colorful clothespins, and
it sparked the idea of compliment clips. We add a clothespin for each
compliment, and on the 10th clip they get an extra 10 min. of recess.
They work extra hard for compliments and they are super proud of
themselves when they receive one.
I love this idea! :) Very simple to do without adding too much on you. It's also much faster to earn than a jar full of marbles, for example. Thanks for sharing! :) I'm your newest follower! So glad I found you thru Pinterest! I teach 2nd in VA. Please feel free to come check out my blog! :)

Oooh, I like this! I was thinking about doing brownie points and making a whole bulletin board for it. I have 3 classes throughout the day, so I can make 3 cans, covered with their appropriate colored scrapbook paper and a number then put the clips in the cans and give them a treat when they get to 10!! Great Idea! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea. I use an extra Judy clock and each compliment earns a minute on the clock. We start at 2:00 (of course) and we get an extra recess when we reach each new quarter of the hour. Each time we earn a compliment we spend a minute going over the time and most of my kiddos learned to read time this way.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of earning minutes for each compliment. What a fantastic way to teach time. Thanks for sharing :)
