Monster Toolbox Labels and a Spelling FREEBIE

I wanted to share a couple of freebies tonight.  Some of you probably already know I'm obsessed with monsters (not the scary kind!).  My classroom is monster themed and I love all things MONSTER!  I've wanted to make a teacher toolbox ever since Create Teach Share first shared this fantastic idea.  I've seen so many gorgeous teacher created toolboxes on Instagram this summer, I just couldn't resist any longer.  I knew that of course, it was going to have to be monster themed.  I searched far and wide for monster labels and couldn't find any anywhere!!!  Lucky for me, I found this super adorable monster paper on Etsy.
I am sooo excited to get this into my classroom.  I have absolutely no idea where I am going to fit it, but it will have to find a home somewhere in my crowded classroom!

If you have a monster classroom and are interested in these labels, you can click the image below to get them for FREE.

I also wanted to share a spelling printable that I am excited to use this year.  Okay, I'm about to jump from monsters to superheroes.  But, this page is perfect for Mondays when you are introducing new spelling and vocabulary words.  Click either image below to check it out or grab this FREEBIE.

Monster Theme

I am so excited to finally have a classroom theme. I tried a frog theme once many years ago, and that didn't last!  I went out and bought everything frogs, got it all up, and took it all down by the end of the day.  Nothing against frogs, they just weren't for me.

At the beginning of the summer, I came across JW Illustration's monster clip art and fell in love. Oh my gosh, they are so cute!  It started as just a monster sign and spiraled into this MONSTERpiece.

Here are a few pics of a few of the items in this set:

I'm going to use badge holders this year for my hall passes, but there are also large passes in the set.

If you are a monster fan, then you can check it out in my store by clicking the image below.

P.S. The first 2 people to comment will get it for free.  Don't forget to leave your e-mail.
Thanks bunches!!!

Classroom Pics

I've been meaning to post pics of my classroom, and I'm finally doing it.  I always get a lot of questions about where I get my colorful furniture.  We have a teacher on my campus whose husband creates fabulous furniture.  He  not only constructs all of the pieces himself, but also does all of the painting!!!  For the last 9 years, Ive been adding a new piece every year and now my classroom is a work of art!

Word Wall- The blue background is actually felt. It
makes adding words super easy.  I just add velcro and I'm good to go.

Station activities are housed on this colorful shelf.

Student Cubbies- I sort all their graded work for the week,
as well as notes going home in these cubbies.

The next 3 are pictures of my classroom library or Book Nook, as we call it.

He did  a fabulous job on my big book holder.  I love it!!!
Big Books are so large and bulky, this was the perfect fix.

Another colorful bookshelf filled with math manipulatives
and leveled readers on the top.

This was my lovely pregnancy chair from a few years ago.  Got me off my feet,
but thankfully I didn't fall off the thing.  It's awfully high!
Now, the mini bench below my Smartboard is the perfect size for my students.

My new chair pockets- my mom made me a new set this summer and I LOVE them.
We used a heavier fabric this time (duck cloth) and they should last a very long time.

This is my newest piece of furniture.  I am lovin' it! It's a perfect way to stay organized.

How may of you remember seeing the gumball machine on pinterest used as an eraser dispenser?  Well, I ordered one on Amazon and the thing just about made me crazy.  My erasers either wouldn't come out, or a bunch would come out all at once.  I got so fed up, I tossed the thing! This is what I came up with instead and it's not driving me nuts, so that's a good thing :) It's just a simple cookie jar from Sam's Club.

  Listening Center on Wheels

Love this table, but ignore the ugly trash can next to it-
now you can see why I'm not a photographer.

This may be my favorite piece.  The paint job is gorgeous.  My original intentions were to use it as an overhead cart (it's on wheels).  My overhead is on a table now, but I love that it's mobile and could be used in so many ways.

Teacher bookshelf- all my teaching resources.
I don't have a desk, so this is where I store my teacher stuff.

We made these flowers on the first day of school.  I read the book, Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert, and we talked about how over the course of the year they will bloom like the flowers in Ehlert's book.  They make a cute display for Open House and they brighten my room for sure!

Chair Pockets

I absolutely LOVE chair pockets!  Between textbooks, spirals, folders, library books, and all the other supplies-there is just not enough room for everything in the desks.  I don't know what I would do without them.  But, I'm thinking it's time for this set to finally retire.  Making new chair pockets is going to be this summer's project.  They really do last a long time, and mine are made of ordinary fabric.  This was my eighth year using the same set.  Replacing them every 8 years really isn't too bad!

My Classroom

This is my class Book Nook.  All my bins are labeled with codes for genres and topics, so students can easily locate books and replace books when they are finished reading them. I use a sticker system with the codes written on each sticker.  The large tree above my bookshelf is my genre tree.
